April 2015. Brigade Members with our two tankers assisted in a local accident where two men were caught in a rolling truck crash at Orangeville. The Daily Telegraph reported the event with photos taken from a helicopter.

Long time member of Orangeville-Werombi Rural Fire Brigade - Eric Rudd turned 90 on 4 August 2014. Eric joined the Brigade, then known as the Bush Fire Brigade in 1945 and in 1949 became Secretary. Eric held that position for 55 years. He still takes an active interest in the Brigade.


We wish Eric all the best for his 90th which he celebrated on 3 August with many family and friends.

Members of the Brigade attended the Blessing of the Firies Service held at Orangeville Uniting Church on Sunday 15 September.

FieldEx 2013 was held on Sunday 8 September. Orangeville Werombi 1 participated in the day. Rory, Jeremy and Tony were on the tanker and enjoyed the exercises. David, Kerry, Leigh, Adam and June assisted with various tasks during the planning and on the day.

The Brigade 2013 Annual General Meeting was held at the Brigade Station on Monday evening 8 April. Many members and a couple of guests attended. Group Officer Norm Scherer presided over the election of Field Officers and Administrative Officers and other Brigade position holders.

Captain Leigh Daniels thanked members for their contributions made to the activities of the Brigade during the year, and congratulated David Murphy on attaining his Group Leader qualification during the year, and Jeremy Duck who attained his Crew Leader qualification recently also.

A delicious supper was enjoyed by attendees after the formal meeting.

Open Day 2012 held on 22nd September 2012 saw many residents of our local area come to meet us, learn how to maintain their properties, and enjoy the sausage sizzle. Children also had the dangers of fire explained to them while they were colouring - in between their visits to the very popular Jumping Castle and enjoying icecreams.

On Wednesday 28th May, Paul Cudina Branch Manager of IMB Picton presented the Brigade with a donation of $980 to allow us to purchase a set of manikins to use in our First Aid training.

May 2008 - The Brigade received a grant of $625 from FRRR - Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal - which allowed us to purchase an Emergency Oxygen Unit to carry on the Brigade Tanker. This can be used in times of emergency to assist members of the public or firefighters. This equipment is particularly useful when people have inhaled excessive amounts of smoke. It can also be used in other incidents where people are in distress.


On Wednesday 21st May, 31 firefighters from Wollondilly District received National Medals and Long
Service Awards in recognition of their dedication and commitment to the Service. These were presented to them by the Commissioner. Two of our members received awards.
